There are usually three types of generators:
1. Classified by the way of converted electric energy
According to the way of converted electric energy, it can be divided into two categories: AC generator and DC generator.
Alternator is divided into two kinds: synchronous generator and asynchronous generator. Synchronous generators are divided into two types: hidden-pole synchronous generators and salient-pole synchronous generators. Synchronous generators are the most commonly used in modern power stations, while asynchronous generators are rarely used.
AC generator sets can be divided into single-phase generators and three-phase generators. The output voltage of the three-phase generator is 380V, and the output voltage of the single-phase generator is 220V.
2. Classified by excitation method
According to the excitation mode, it can be divided into two types: brush excitation generator and brushless excitation generator
The excitation mode of the brush-excited generator is separate excitation, and the excitation mode of the brushless excitation generator is self-excitation. The rectifying device of the separately excited generator is on the stator of the generator, and the rectifying device of the self-excited generator is on the rotor of the generator set.
3. Classified by driving power
There are many forms of generator driving power. Common power machines are:
(1) Wind turbine
Wind turbines rely on the wind to drive the generator to rotate and generate current; this kind of generator does not need to consume additional energy and is a pollution-free generator;
(2) Hydroelectric generator
Hydroelectric generator is a device that uses the drop of water to generate power to drive the generator to generate electricity. It is also a device that uses green natural resources to generate electricity. It is also called a hydroelectric generator.
(3) Fuel generator
